On the Basis of Sex is based on the life story of US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Despite graduating at the top of her class, Ginsburg had a hard time in finding employment because none of the law firms she applied to wants to hire a woman.
This movie is a great movie for young female law students. The movie features the case of Moritz v. Commissioner, 469 F.2d 466 (1972), a case which held that discrimination on the basis of sex constitutes a violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the United States Constitution.
